Athens Water Park
This project was developed during my exchange semester at EPFL as part of a landscape architecture studio in collaboration with the architecture office Point Supreme, founded by Marianna Rentzou and Konstantinos Pantazis, known for their playful, colorful approach and distinctive use of collages.
The project is located in Kerameikos Park, southwest of the Acropolis, stretching over a length of approximately 600 meters. Strongly affected by the urban heat island effect, this area becomes largely unusable during the summer months. The aim of the project was to introduce a water-based intervention that cools the park while using as little water as possible.
The proposal introduces a large arching water system that runs through the park, punctuated by a series of stations differentiated by specific uses and color-coded identities. Each section functions as a small river, shaded by a lightweight mesh textile designed to capture humidity from the air. The collected moisture drips down, is guided toward a central point, and contributes to feeding the water system.
The project combines climate adaptation, landscape design, and spatial experience, transforming the park into a sequence of cool, shaded, and active public spaces during the hottest periods of the year.
